Making a simple 3D box

Step 1. Open avoCADo

Open avoCADo

Start running avoCADo. You should automatically be placed in the "Sketch" mode, which allows for 2D drawing.

Step 2. Draw a rectangle

Draw a rectangle

Select the "Rect" (short for rectangle) button from the menu on the left.

Then click the mouse and drag it to draw a box on the sketch.

Finally, click the check mark at the bottom left, next to Rect, to finish the operation.

Step 3. Finish the sketch

Select the green "Done" button from the left menu. This will take you to a set of features in the "Build" mode.

Here you can transform your 2D sketch into a 3D solid object.

Step 4. Select extrude

Select the regions to extrude

Select the "Extrude" tool from the menu on the left, then click in the highlighted area you wish to extrude.




Step 5. Input the height

A small box should be showing at the bottom left of the screen. Type in a new number for the height and click "Done".




Step 6. Rotate the view

Rotated view of the box

You are probably seeing the box directly from the top so it does not look very 3D yet. To rotate the view, either use the arrow keys on your keyboard or click and drag the middle mouse button to rotate the object.
